24 of the best players in the world. Eight teams. Three-a-side. On a ship. In a cage. First goal wins. Throw in a catchy tune that you never would’ve sung before it was remixed and featured in this ad, but now can’t stop singing, plus Eric Cantona hosting proceedings, plus Terry Gilliam behind the camera, and what have you got? The Secret Tournament, aka Scorpion K.O., aka Nike’s advertising campaign for the 2002 FIFA World Cup. It was one of the very first fully “integrated” advertising campaign and remains to this day the epitome of Nike’s TV “advertainment” campaigns.

And yes, there was a rematch.
