Brand Experience
Do It Yourself
We all know the feeling of settling in after a long day to binge watch our favorite shows on Netflix, and all the daily rituals that go along with it. Or the feeling of losing your spot when you watch yourself to sleep. Tapping into these new cultural phenomenons, we partnered with DeepLocal to create two real devices (inspired by behavioral insights) that people could DIY as maker projects at home (plans and DIY instructions were available on the Make It website).
Results: both projects went viral generating up to 1 billion earned social media impressions and received press, and industry awards.
The Netflix Socks
Using an accelerometer to detect when a viewer has dozed off, this pair of cosy socks send a signal to the user’s TV to pause their show. This project spread like wildfire across social media and press outlets.
